Have you ever seen those extreme runners or outdoorsy persons who run around wearing those shoes that looks like gloves, or monkey shoes, or a second skin? What was your first impression? Mine was not positive. I laughed.
But my humor was short lived, because after several months of debate and study, reading review after customer review, I actually broke down and bought some. I simply could not handle not knowing if they really were the greatest thing ever made for feet. I think they are.
I bought mine from a store in Georgia and had them shipped. The total cost was $80.00. These offer the option for one-pull speed-lace, or you can switch to traditional laces, which are included in the box.
From the moment I put them on, I was in love. They say that you are supposed to gradually transition. In the box, the directions say that you should take several weeks, wearing them a little longer each day to adjust, little by little. So, of course, I immediately began wearing them exclusively, every day, and never looked back. I'm not a runner, so I wasn't worried about any injuries stemming from the sudden switch.
The hardest part about getting them on is fitting each toe in individual pocket, especially the pinky toe. But, after a few days, I learned to spread my toes just right, and can slip them on without a problem. I take them everywhere. These have a thicker sole which make them great for stepping on rocks and hiking.
I went for the "sandal" type of shoe. I read that toe shoes usually start stinking, because in most are worn without socks and your feet sweat and can't breathe. However, these don't have that problem so much. I have only washed them a couple of times, opposed to the other shoes that people wash every- to every other day, from what I've gathered.
I love wearing these in water. I get them wet, set them out overnight, and they are ready in the morning.
Unfortunately, these breathe a little too well, and it is getting colder out. I'm planning on purchasing something warmer. These look nice...
